100 years of Cheerful Sparrows

This is a very special year for us – 2025 marks the centenary of Cheerful Sparrows Thanet Charity!

The Cheerful Sparrows charitable movement began during the Boer War (1899-1902) when people started collecting funds to help support families while their menfolk were away fighting. The Cheerful Sparrows Thanet (formerly know as the Margate branch) was formed in 1925.
